ABOUT THE ARTIST

Katherine has been handy with pencil and paper since a very young age. Growing up, much of her artwork focused on traditional landscape work and sketching. Gradually she took an interest in pop culture and mass media. Katherine also has a huge fascination in the exact transcription of a photograph into a painting. She has adopted this trait in her more recent artworks, which focus on what she likes to call "abstract hyperrealism", through the enveloped view of environments or "incidents" which she encounters.
Katherine is also an aspiring educator who has a passion for assisting young people find creative solace in her classroom. Working in a range of fields, she has developed an abundance of technical skills including; Adobe Photoshop and Premiere; photography; spray paint stencilling; editing multimedia; technical drawing skills; folio composition; and traditional painting, and she hopes to equip young people with these skills that are currently sought by employers. Creativity is an invaluable aptitude which can be encouraged and nourished by a passionate mentor. Katherine devours every opportunity to learn a new art form and loves taking part in passing on this knowledge.
